Hardness or softness of balm will depend entirely on temperature; for a softer balm, simply store in a warm pocket or pop on top of a radiator for a few minutes. 

As a 100% natural product, balm can become grainy if exposed to temperature changes. To fix this, simply re-melt in a warm (not too hot) oven, stir and let cool fully - balm will be back to normal!
